The 2011 Michel Metraux Trophy will be presented at the FIM MotoGP Awards Ceremony in Valencia on the evening of Sunday November 6th, following the final race of the season.
Riders in both the Moto2 and 125cc categories have been asked by IRTA to vote for the rider in their class who they believe has achieved the best performance throughout the season, taking into consideration factors including age, previous results, machinery and team.
2010 125cc World Champion and recipient of the award last year Marc Márquez has been voted for by his fellow Moto2 colleagues, thanks to a debut season in the intermediate class in which he has so far scored seven wins and a total of 11 podiums. The Spaniard still stands a slim chance of actually winning the 2011 Moto2 title in Valencia.
Maverick Viñales’ inspirational first World Championship campaign has resulted in the 16 year-old Spaniard being selected by his fellow 125cc riders. Viñales has won three GPs this year, his first coming in only his fourth ever race at Le Mans, and could finish his debut season in third position depending on his race result in Valencia.
Michel Metraux’s son Olivier will be present at the Awards Ceremony to present both riders with their trophies.
