Spies becomes intoxicated at a promotional event in Jakarta



Ben Spies suffered food poisoning yesterday during promotional events, along with his teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta. The American, who is out of danger, a few days now travel to Bali where he hopes to fully recover from the mishap and be ready for the official preseason test, which start later this month in Sepang.

Lorenzo and Spies spent the day on Saturday to make Yamaha promotional events in Jakarta. In the morning both drivers gave a clinic for young riders of the Yamaha R Series Cup, giving them tips on how to be placed on a motorcycle, how to take corners and how to deal with overtaking, training, after which the young drivers, with great future prospects, ended delighted. 

In the afternoon, Jorge met with more than three thousand Indonesian distributors to introduce the new Yamaha Byson, which is the new star of the Japanese manufacturer's catalog for the Asian market. The event could not go with Spies, who suffered food poisoning at lunch and had to be treated clinically. 

"It was a real pleasure to meet Indonesian pilots of the future," said Lorenzo. "I think if you follow the advice and training can apply to become future world champions," he urged. "It was also important to share with the Indonesian Yamaha dealer, I hope I could motivate some to achieve the targets set for 2012." 

Meanwhile, Spies said, "It was great to come here and meet people Indonesia, which have given us a very warm welcome. I feel that I was unable to attend the meeting with dealers, I had bad luck with intoxication. But now I'm going to Bali to recover and rest for a few days. I hope to return soon and return to share experiences with them. "
