Dovizioso wants to beat Honda

Andrea Dovizioso has set the goal to beat Honda next year, and is looking to Yamaha to help him succeed in defeating the manufacturer that nurtured him over the past 10 years.

Last season Dovizioso finished third in the championship riding a Repsol Honda to four second places and three third places, but when it came to handing out factory RC213Vs for 2012 the Italian was overlooked and signed with Tech3 Yamaha.

Speaking to Sportmediaset, Andrea said: "It’s a very important challenge, I can’t wait to start testing at Sepang to understand the real potential of the Yamaha. At Valencia, I felt the bike was good in some aspects and negative in others. To defeat Honda, there will need to be some work.”

The former 125GP champion sampled the Yamaha M1 for the first time at the post-season tests, finishing with a best time of 1:33.256.
